GYMspiration: What's a Workout Without Cute Clothes?

Pin It Now!
Everyone gets their gym inspiration, or GYMspiration, if you will, from somewhere. For me, it's workout gear.

I am beyond obsessed with cute workout clothes. When I finally get my dream body (giggle), I want to be one of those girls who effortlessly glides around Manhattan on the weekends in chic running capris and tank tops with messy hair that looks like it belongs on Nicole Richie - not a homeless lady in Central Park.

I created a Pinterest board called "Fitspiration" that was supposed to have healthy recipes, photos of protein shakes and inspirational mantras to get my ass-ets to the gym, but it quickly became a haven for me to hoard photos of sneakers and gym gear. Don't judge me.

Here are some of my topic picks. All photos courtesy Pinterest (you can dig through my board to get the source for each if you wish!)

I bought these and can vouch: they are just as cute as they are comfortable!

Obsessed with these capris. Spandex is your best friend when you have a giant ass that needs to be sausaged.

Fashion meets function. I could live in these. Tres comfy!

Work That Body!

Pin It Now!
I don't know about you, but I am totally A.D.D. when it comes to workouts. I can get so into a routine and then become bored of it just as quickly.I'm always looking for something new and inspiring, so I thought I'd share with you guys what I've been up to lately in the gym. The whole routine takes about 45 minutes and I am sore every time (if I'm not sore, I don't count it as a workout!)

And the best part? I haven't gotten tired of it yet!

What are your favorite workout routines? Share them with me below, I'd love to hear about them!

Healthy is The New Skinny Challenge!

Pin It Now!
Hello Champagne Girls!

As you may or may not have heard (how could you not? I am a loud mouth!) me and my co-hosts from Bubbly Talk Radio have all embarked on our 30 day "Healthy is The New Skinny" challenge. We're calling it a 30 day challenge because as Dr. Fritz told us on the show last week, we need to set small goals (baby steps!) but in reality this is a true lifestyle makeover.

We're all following my very own Champagne Diet which as you probably know, is all about healthy eating, drinking and living. We're indulging in the best of the best: fresh veggies, delicious fruits, lean proteins and whole grains. We're keeping our calorie count around 1200-1400 per day (use whatever method you like to track) and most importantly - we're NOT giving up our wine and champagne! A life without bubbles is life not worth living, and we're all about decadence here!

And don't forget to strap on your runners and hit the gym ladies. We've got to keep those beautiful bodies in motion! Plus, the more calories you burn, the more wine you earn!

We will be tweeting, facebooking, instagramming and pinning photos of our meals, inspirational messages, updates on our progress, our trips to the gym, and everything in between using the hash tag #HealthyIsTheNewSkinny. Think of it as your online support system!

Every Tuesday, we'll be sending out a newsletter which you can sign up for here. The newsletter will document our progress and share our experiences.

So join us, won't you? Cheers!

I'm on The Champagne Diet: Who's With Me?

Pin It Now!

About four years ago, a good friend and coworker at MTV encouraged me to switch from beer and mixed drinks to champagne as my drink of choice. Liron promised me that I'd feel sexier and healthier if I indulged in a 100 calorie flute of champagne as opposed to anything else. "Besides, what do you see all the models drinking?" she asked me in her thick, husky Israeli accent.

Fast forward three months later and I had dropped 27 pounds while following my "Champagne Diet" which consisted of a 1200-1400 calorie per day regimen of regular workouts, fresh vegetables, lean protein, whole grains and fresh fruit. And naturally, champagne. Liron became my drill sergeant and literally smacked cookies out of my mouth at work, reminding me of how hard I was working to be healthy. Her tough love approach was exactly what I needed to reclaim my body and my life. She became my coach, my cheerleader, and most importantly, my dear friend.

Along with the pounds, I also shed all other negativity in my life including an unhealthy relationship and a mind-numbing job. With a new figure, a new job (I landed a promotion at MTV), and a no-nonsense attitude toward dating, I launched this very blog to document my road to a healthier, happier life. The Champagne Diet has taken shape and truly become a lifestyle that includes celebrating yourself (flaws and all) and eating healthy, delicious food. It's not about deprivation (champagne is always on the menu, in moderation of course); it's about only accepting the best in your body and in your world. And who knows, maybe I will turn it into an official diet. Book 2, anyone? :)

It's been an exhilarating four years and I truly cannot believe how far this little blog has taken me. I just recently published my first book, inspired a "Champagne Diet" menu at POP bar in California, been featured in magazines around the globe, and most importantly, I've had the ability to connect with some of the most amazing women I've ever met. Life is not just good, it's great.

They say happiness makes you a little more, well, laid back when it comes to watching your weight, and let's just say I've been pretty damn happy lately. While I have been healthier than ever and still eating well, I have let my workouts slide and indulged in a little too many "splurge meals" lately. On a recent trip to the Hamptons with my mom, I found myself feeling down in the dumps over my body. I laid on our deck watching confident, sexy, healthy women frolic on the beach and it hit me: I am at my personal best right now. I've put back on a little more than half of those 27 pounds I lost a few years ago. I'm not overweight, but I know I can be better. I know I can be healthier. I did it once, and I can do it again! I am also a certified wellness coach now with a host of knowledge under my belt, so if that isn't a good enough reason, I don't know what is. So ladies, I am officially back on "The Champagne Diet" and I am encouraging all of you to join me!

Over the next couple of weeks I will be posting photos, tweets and motivational messages documenting my progress. And the best news? My "Champagne Sisters" Mella, Charlotte and Kiron from Bubbly Talk Radio are all joining me! We're on a mission to be our best and truly live the mantra: "Healthy is the new skinny." Stay tuned to the blog, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook for all of the updates! Here we go!

The Power of Fabulous Thinking and My Whirlwind Week!

Pin It Now!

Before I write anything, I want to first say this: THANK YOU.

Thank you to all of the amazingly dedicated and loyal fans of this blog who have supported the release of my book, and my dream. I am blown away at this network of women we've created together and I would be nowhere if it weren't for all of you.

I have not been able to wipe this Kool-Aid smile off my face for days. My book is an Amazon bestseller! Saying that sounds so strange, yet so wonderful (and really, quite strange). I have to stop myself from approaching total strangers in the supermarket and squealing: "My book is a bestseller!" I came very close this morning. It's surreal!

I decided to write this book in 2008. I had just gone through a difficult time in my personal life and I was, in a nutshell, miserable. I had gotten out of a long-term relationship that was not good for me, I had put on a couple pounds and was eating as if every night was The Last Supper (Coors Light and twelve slices of pizza anyone!?) and I was stuck in a boring, mind-numbing job. In short, I was passionless.

I had to make a quick decision and figure out a way to turn it around. I was not going to be miserable. I was not going to be unhealthy. And I sure as hell wasn't going to be bored. I launched this blog a few months later as a diary of sorts; a way to document my road to happiness. I hoped that somehow, someway, it would touch another woman who was maybe going through the same thing. I wanted to turn my pain into inspiration. I wanted to let other women know it would be okay, and it was up to us to make it that way. It was a scary time for me, but it was also a time filled with hope and possibility. I had nowhere else to go but up, and boy, have I come up.

If you would have told me back in 2008 that this blog would inspire a book, and that book would become a bestseller that would become #1 in the Self-Help Happiness category on Amazon with no publisher or publicist behind it, I would have told you that you were nuts. But I am here! I did it! I am living proof that with passion and purpose, you can do anything you want.

Every single thing is possible.

Hey, I just published you. And this is CRAZY.

I also want to talk about something I write about in SPARKLE. It's something I created called The Power of Fabulous Thinking. It's a spin on The Power of Positive Thinking (but it's a bit more glam than that, naturally!). Before this book came out, I wrote this note to myself in my phone. I had no idea how I'd pull it off, but I told the Universe (and myself) that my book would become a bestseller. I believed in myself, and I believed in all the women out there who have come to rally for me. I knew we could do it. And we did.

The Power of Fabulous Thinking in action!

I also had no idea SPARKLE would be released the day it was. I planned for an October 9th launch date, but Amazon (and The Universe) works in mysterious ways, so I'm pretty sure there was a bigger reason for this book to come out a month early. Part of the reason may have been the fact that I just so happened to have Happy Hour plans with my girlfriends on Thursday night (the day SPARKLE was released) -- plans that only took us two months to make due to everyone's hectic schedules. Clearly, The Universe wanted me to have my besties around to toast with! And toasting we did!

So here we are, three days after SPARKLE's shimmering, dazzling release into the world and I feel like it's only just the beginning. There is so much more out there to write about, talk about, and toast to. Thank you again to my beautiful, bubbly readers for appreciating and sharing in what I do.

I hope you enjoy the book and I look forward to reading your reviews!

Love, love, love,

SPARKLE is Available NOW on Amazon! (and a Bestseller!)

Pin It Now!
I KNOW right!?

You know that saying, "We make plans and God laughs?" Well I bet God, and all of the little sparkle fairies up in heaven are having a BALL with this one!

Never a dull moment in the world of indie publishing. I researched, prepped, and anxiously gulped red wine in an attempt to calm my nerves over the past few months to time the release of my first book, SPARKLE, perfectly. Arranged for press, radio interviews, launch parties, all meticulously in line with the magical date of Tuesday, October 9. The date I obsessed over for the release of this book that I spent FOUR YEARS working on.

And guess what? I logged into my Amazon account this morning and saw that not only was it available now, but it had been selling copies like CRAZY! Someone started the party without me! I am learning (quickly) that I can't control everything, so I'm rolling with this one and counting down the hours until I can responsibly pop a bottle of champagne (the second I escape from my office).

Not only am I dealing with the shock of my book being released a month early, but it's ranking in the TOP 100 in Amazon's "Self-Help ---> Happiness" category! At 11 am this morning, SPARKLE was #39 in the category, and is also being featured as a "Hot Release!"

You can click here if you want to purchase this hot little mama!

I just want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart who supported this project. I started this book four years ago, and had no idea where it would lead me. I feel so blessed and lucky to have found myself in a place where I am happier and more fulfilled than I ever thought possible. I hope you enjoy reading this book as much as I enjoyed writing it and bringing it into the world.

With so much love and gratitude,

UPDATE! As of 9/6/12 SPARKLE became a #1 best seller on Amazon! I can't thank everyone enough for their support! It means the world to me!

Be Here Now

Pin It Now!
It's 9:50 pm and my husband has just turned in for an early night after a three day weekend. I miss him, I thought, five minutes after he went to sleep. We had been together the entire weekend, so I wasn't quite sure why I felt so mushy after finding myself alone in the living room with a goblet of red wine and a plate of artisanal cheeses. That should be girl heaven, but for some reason I had this unshakable feeling of missing my man and wanting to steal another couple minutes with him before we head back to a grueling work week.

I started to mentally review my day: food shopping, a quick jog, and cooking. That's all I had done, and Ryan was by my side for every waking moment in between. But I also realized I had spent a good portion of the day tweeting, blogging, and Facebooking. My laptop was planted firmly on my lap for a good five hours today alone, and even though it was Labor Day (a day to slow down and honor those who work), I clearly wasn't getting the message.

After realizing I had spent a good three days with (and without) my husband, I snuck into the bedroom to give him a kiss on the forehead. I sat there on the bed for a few minutes, listening to him breathe. I felt sad that I distracted myself the entire weekend when I should have been soaking up every moment together. We've both been working like dogs and we were so excited for a weekend without obligations. What was wrong with me that I couldn't let go? Why couldn't' I unplug for a few days (or at least a few hours) and enjoy my time off with the love of my life?

I wrote a chapter in SPARKLE about being present in the moment. I actually made myself go back and read it to remind myself of how important it is to indulge in the "here and now." We get so caught up in routines and feeling like we need to be connected to the world at all times, that we sometimes forget how important it is to be connected to the ones we love most.

So although I'm about to embark on another busy week, I will make time for the things that matter most. I refuse to get so wrapped up in my work that I regret not spending enough time with my family. I will make time for the little things, even when it feels like there are so many big things that still need to get done.

Wine and cheese tastes way better when it's shared, anyway.
